Greetings to three newcomers to the Minneapolis dining scene.
Chef/owner Don Saunders, he of In Season (5416 Penn Av. S., Mpls., www.inseasonrestaurant.com), is cooking up a storm at the Kenwood, investing his neighborhood-friendly menus -- a.m. coffee and pastries, a breakfast-lunch hybrid and dinner -- with his own brand of culinary swagger. No dinner Sunday; closed Monday.

Spouses Carrie McCabe-Johnston and Jasha Johnston (she cooks; he's behind the bar) are the team behind Nightingale, transforming a former neighborhood grocery into a late-night hangout (the kitchen closes at 1 a.m., the bar at 2 a.m.) with an eclectic small-plates menu -- bruschettas topped with roasted mushrooms and quail eggs, steak tartare, roasted cauliflower with preserved lemon -- and scrupulously prepared cocktails.

In the Lynnhurst neighborhood, business partners Peter Ireland (the chef) and Jay Peterson (the general manager) are serving daily breakfast (eggs scrambled with ham and Gruyère, sandwiches made with house-made sausages and English muffins, French toast) and lunch (daily omelet, a burger dressed with béarnaise, croque monsieurs and madames) at the Lynn on Bryant. The setting? A lively and lovely storefront.
