It's harvest time! The bell peppers, onions, leafy greens, sweet corn and tomatoes are spilling over the market stalls and onto our dinner plates. And that's just the first ring of vegetables. Give us eggplant and broccoli, please. Pack up the cabbages, cauliflower and beans that await the handiwork of a cook. The basil, rosemary and cilantro are fragrant and ready to be tossed into our meals. Who needs fancy recipes when the harvest is this young? There is no better time to reach for your choice of familiar vegetable. Or try something new, whether it's the beet that scared you off as a child or the fennel you haven't quite figured out. This is the tastiest time of year. Indulge in it.
