There's an unusual new flavor in the rack of Snack Pack shelf-stable pudding. Mr. Tidbit tries to avoid mentioning "new" grocery items that are merely new flavors of existing items, but this new flavor was stunningly (well, somewhat stunningly) different: Blueberry Muffin pudding. (Ignore the word "muffin," which has zero meaning in this context -- like the word "pie" in any number of yogurt flavors.)

The notion of fruit-flavored pudding struck Mr. Tidbit as a major development, and maybe it is: Except for lemon and banana, it doesn't seem to exist. Wow, he thought: Blueberry pudding! Maybe there could also be raspberry pudding, strawberry pudding, cherry pudding. ... What would they be like?

Not to take away from the breakthrough and the possibilities, but blueberry pudding (which Mr. Tidbit liked) turned out not to be breathtaking. It's exactly like blueberry yogurt, but not tart.

Multiple yogurts Things are popping over at General Mills Yoplait operation. First there's new lactose-free Yoplait, in 6-ounce containers with a shelf price, at one store, of 94 cents, about 25 percent higher than 6 ounces of regular Yoplait at 74 cents. Then there are two developments in Yoplait's Greek section. Joining single 6-ounce cups of Greek yogurt, at $1.13 (about 50 percent more than the price per ounce of regular Yoplait), there are now four-packs of 4-ounce cups of Greek Yoplait, for $2.99 at that store, about the same price as four 6-ounce cups of regular Yoplait -- again about 50 percent more per ounce than regular Yoplait.

Oddly, $2.99 also buys a two-pack of Yoplait Greek yogurt with Nature Valley Granola. (Each of the two cups of yogurt is topped with a separate little cuplet of granola.) Each yogurt-and-granola combination weighs 6 ounces -- 5.3 ounces of Greek yogurt and 0.7 ounces of granola.

So for the same $2.99 that would get you 16 ounces of Greek yogurt, you get only 10.6 ounces of Greek yogurt and 1.4 ounces of granola. (Mr. Tidbit's suggestion: If you want granola with your yogurt, buy a box of granola.)
