YOU LOVE TO COOK? YEAH, YEAH, YEAH
Attention, Beatles fans. I mean real Beatles fans. Here's a cookbook that has your name on it: "She Came In Through The Kitchen Window: Recipes Inspired by the Beatles and Their Music." Just published in paperback, it's a fine cookbook with fine recipes, but you'll need to put up with some groan-inducing titles, such as "Hey Juice," "Let It Beef," "Beer Prudence," "Paperback Fritters," "Liver Let Die," "Paella Lane," "Tomato Never Knows" . . . you get the drift.
Written by pop culture specialist Stephen J. Spignesi, the 225-page book is peppered -- make that Sgt. Peppered -- with old photos of the Fab Four as well as Beatles trivia. For example, did you know that in the song "Lovely Rita," John, Paul and George all play comb and toilet paper? That alone might be worth the $14 price tag. Spignesi also wrote "The Beatles Book of Lists" in 1998.
A FAIR TO REMEMBER
Food specialists from Betty Crocker Kitchens will demonstrate how to make variations of favorite State Fair foods. On Monday, look in on the cooks as they make cookie-wrapped candy bars on a stick, a simplified version of deep-fried candy bars on a stick; baked mini doughnuts; State Fair corn-on-the-cob pops, and double fruit shakes, made with fat-free yogurt.
