Farmers market season has begun. Some markets are already open, and dozens more will be drawing crowds in the coming weeks. This year's crop of markets is a record number, and that growth is mirroring a nationwide trend: The U.S. Department of Agriculture notes an 18 percent increase in the number of farmers markets since 2004.
