Farmers market season has begun. Some markets are already open, and dozens more will be drawing crowds in the coming weeks. This year's crop of markets is a record number, and that growth is mirroring a nationwide trend: The U.S. Department of Agriculture notes an 18 percent increase in the number of farmers markets since 2004. Market locations include:

ANDOVER

St. Paul Farmers Market, 13655 Round Lake Blvd. (Grace Lutheran Church), 651-227-6856. 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, June 19-Oct. 30.

ANOKA

Anoka County Farmers Market, 2nd Av. N. and E. Jackson St., 763-792-4025. 2 to 6 p.m. Thursdays, July 19-Oct. 25.

APPLE VALLEY

BLAINE
