Beaujo's Wine Bar is scheduled to open early next month at 4950 France Av. S. in Edina. More than 25 different wines will be offered by the glass, half glass or bottle, or in flights of three for comparison tasting. Menu choices will include soups, salads, cold and hot sandwiches, artisan cheeses, smoked meats, coffees and desserts. Beaujo's will be open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Wild game dinners
Poached pear and bison en croute, roasted duck and wild rice cakes, Alaskan halibut stuffed with macadamia nuts and Dungeness crab, and a wood oven-roasted venison chop will be featured at JC Ray's Second Annual Cooking for a Cure Wild Game Dinner, on Oct. 22 at the Prom Center in Oakdale.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation benefit will be hosted by chef Christopher Ray of the San Pedro Cafe in Hudson, Wis. Ray will be assisted by five other local chefs as well as by his 14-year-old son, JC, who has cystic fibrosis. Cost is $95, of which $65 is tax deductible. Jax Cafe in Northeast Minneapolis will hold its annual wild game dinners on Oct. 23 and 24. If you work your way through all of the hot and cold appetizers and the buffet of entrees, you will have the opportunity to ingest a major chunk of the animal kingdom, including trout, pheasant, duck, venison, rattlesnake, wild boar, salmon, ostrich, turtle, partridge, rabbit and buffalo. The St. Paul Hotel has resumed its tea service, served on Saturdays from 3 to 5 p.m. in the hotel lobby. The $25 cost covers a lot more than black-currant tea: It's actually a six-course meal that includes savories such as salmon pinwheel, ham puff and turkey cranberry sandwiches, plus Stilton cheese, currant scones, Victorian cookies and more; for reservations, call the hotel's tea line at 651-228-3860.
In December, the hotel will bring back Gerald Charles Dickens, great-grandson of the famous author, for its annual Tea With Scrooge, featuring Dickens' one-man rendition of "A Christmas Carol." Those teas will be held Dec. 21 and 23 at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.; cost is $45.
