Because some people just can't leave well enough alone, here are some ideas to top off a classic cheesecake with extra flavor.

• Grate orange or lemon rind over the top and garnish with curls of citrus peel.

• Pile curls of shaved chocolate in the center. Using both white and dark chocolate is striking.

• A colorful mix of fresh fruit is always lovely.

• Sprinkle with raw sugar and caramelize with a kitchen torch for a brûlée effect.

• Make a quick coulis by puréeing a 10-ounce package of frozen raspberries in syrup with 2 tablespoons sugar and 1 teaspoon lemon juice. Strain, pressing on solids.
