YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES
For its second-anniversary celebration, Twin Cities Green is doing something a little different from the usual boutique soiree -- an Eco Boudoir Bash. "Green can be sexy (and a little naughty!) ... and we're out to prove it," said Ryan North, who owns the store with his wife, Tina North.
The party will include a fashion show of sleepwear and lingerie, a workshop from Smitten Kitten, organic cocktails, organic mattress demonstrations and a make-your-own underwear from reclaimed fabric workshop.
Where: Twin Cites Green, 2405 Hennepin Av. S., Minneapolis, 612-374-4581.
When: 5 to 8:30 p.m. today.
Sales and eventsVState didn't move, but that won't deter it from having a Grand Reopening party this weekend (3001 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls., 612-823-4699, Sat., 7 to 10 p.m.). Daniel Vargas, who owns the men's and women's store, took over the entire space that he used to share with Atmosfere. To celebrate, there will be cocktails, music by I Roots Reggae Band and free haircuts for guys, courtesy of Fellas Salon. You'll also get 10 to 15 percent off new fall merchandise and an extra 30 percent off summer stuff. While Vargas has a long-term lease with Calhoun Square, VState will move in early 2010 to a new location within the mall.
On Oct. 10 and 11, get a jump-start on holiday shopping with a Sarah Graham trunk show at Max's (Excelsior & Grand, 3831 Grand Way, St. Louis Park, 952-922-8364). The designer mixes diamonds, pearls and blackened steel with 18K gold for maximum graphic impact.
Tonight there will be a fashion show to benefit the Angel Foundation, which provides non-medical emergency financial assistance to adult cancer patients. The "Angels and Divas" show (St. Paul Hotel, 350 Market St., St. Paul, 6 to 8:30 p.m., $50) will feature clothes from Hot Mama, Zelaz and La Rue Marche along with Just Cause Jewelry.
