How to wear it: orange lipstick

On the runways, orange is the it color — especially on lips.

While it might seem silly to ditch your go-to nude or classic red lipstick, we’re not clowning around. A pop of sun-kissed melon or wild ginger brightens a boring look.

Tempted to try orange lipstick, but don’t think you have the skin tone for it? Don’t worry — there’s a hue for everyone, said Twin Cities makeup artist Mark Navarro.

“Choose a tinted balm or gloss for subtle sheer color; soft velvety or matte for a confident display, or go with a bright opaque glossy orange for a bold look,” he said.

Here are Mark’s tips for selecting the perfect shade of orange.

Fair skin: Lucky ladies! Any orange hue will do. Go with what feels good.

Porcelain or olive skin: Choose a cooler, blue-based orange.

Warm skin: Red orange and true orange will look stunning.

Neutral or bronzed skin: Keep it basic and stick with true orange.

Dark skin: A red-based orange is your best bet.
