Withering Glance: Clean car, dirty car -- which are you?

Rick Nelson and Claude Peck dispense unasked-for advice about clothing, etiquette, culture, relationships, grooming and more.

CP: Just as some people prefer fiction to nonfiction, or Claude to Rick, some opt to keep their car clean. Others, not so much. Do you buy the slogan: “A clean car drives better”?

RN: Hardly. When I park my 10-year-old Ion in a public lot, my fear is that when I return, the camera crew from “Hoarders” is going to be camped out on my rear bumper. You?

CP: I tipped a producer at “Hoarders” about the situation out at our Star Tribune parking lot, but I think they are busy with a couple of even worse cases.

RN: Here’s hoping. I rarely see anything but sunglasses in your car. Not even the occasional empty Starbucks cup.

CP: I like a nice clean car, but am not all OCD about it. Or is washing your vehicle twice a week considered obsessive?

RN: You’re asking someone who doesn’t even get around to it twice a year.

CP: I’m sure that you keep it nice and tidy on the inside, however.

RN: You’ve met me, right?
