Thinking inside the box for fashion

There won't be a runway at Cliché's sixth incarnation of the Avoid the Grey fashion show.

Instead, boutique owner Delayna Sundberg and co-producer Andrea Oseland have come up with an avant-garde concept for audience interaction -- and perhaps a metaphor for fashion itself: Models will be on display in boxes, each an installation created by artists, and viewers will be able to view the looks through peepholes.

"I really want people to take some time and see these inspirations from every angle, instead of 30 seconds on a runway," Sundberg said.

The boutique asked local designers to make a bold statement about 2012 by elevating their inspiration for ready-to-wear looks into more couture pieces. To capture the outfits-in-progress, we crashed the model fitting. Here are seven designers' looks:

AVOID THE GREY

When: 7 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
