Bright done right

It's time to look on the bright side. For spring, designers from Carolina Herrera to Jil Sander are introducing designs with super-saturated shades in everything from orange to hot pink to aqua -- often all together.

If you're not feeling quite that electrified, you can dabble in the trend, said Charla Krupp, author of "How to Never Look Fat Again." "I love brights because they really affect mood," she said. But she admitted that these look-at-me hues can be challenging to integrate into your wardrobe.

Krupp suggests wearing the bright color on the part of your body you are most comfortable flaunting. "Very few women can carry off a turquoise pant and a red sweater," she said. However, wearing a vivid V-neck sweater can flatter many figures, she advised. And everyone can sport a handbag, shoes or bangles in one of the hot new hues.

Krupp's favorites among the new brights are orange and pink. "Warm colors are more flattering than greens and blues," she said. "Think of makeup colors like coral and blush, which are very pretty on a lot of skin tones."

Embracing these Kool-Aid colors might be just the refresher your wardrobe needs.
