Happy New Year. It's time to update your online dating profile to reflect the 5 pounds you've lost thanks to your carb-free resolution.

Guys, carry on. A profile pick-me-up couldn't hurt.

Ladies? Not so fast. Turns out, you're better off flaunting your flaws.

A recent study by online dating service OKCupid revealed that the more attractive women are, the less luck they have with men. Using data from the profiles of 43,000 heterosexual women in their 20s, the site determined that the women most men found attractive were getting fewer messages in their in-boxes than the women whom most men found unattractive.

OKCupid determined that men are more likely to contact women who are ultimately less attractive, because they think there's less competition.

What's a hot girl to do? The site's co-founder and editorial director suggests that women shouldn't be shy about their flaws.

"If you're a little chubby, play it up. If you have a big nose, play it up. If you have a weird snaggletooth, play it up," he writes on the website. "Statistically, the guys who don't like it can only help you, and the ones who do like it will be all the more excited."
