Spring fling

There may be snow on the ground, but technically it’s spring, so why not get into the spirit with a visit to Springbrook Nature Center? Costumed characters will greet guests. Participate in carnival games and check out exotic animals at the petting zoo. (Noon-4 p.m. Sat. $5-$6. Springbrook Nature Center, 100 85th Av. NE., Fridley. 763-572-3588. www.springbrook naturecenter.org.)

Board game nights

Wednesday nights have just been kicked up a notch in St. Paul. The Union Depot has launched a series of board game nights. Families are invited to play giant-sized versions of chess, Connect Four, dominoes, Jenga and other games. Guests are also welcome to bring their own games. (4-8 p.m. Wed. 214 E. 4th St., St. Paul. www.uniondepot.org.)
