GOING TO THE DOGS

The Lake Minnetonka Kennel Club All-Breed Dog Show will feature more than 1,300 dogs from breeds recognized by the American Kennel Club. Competition will be in conformation, obedience and rally trial. Besides watching some beautiful dogs, spectators can attend breed seminars and pick up breeder referrals, educational materials and canine health information. (10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sat. and Sun. Free admission, $3 parking fee. Scott County Fairgrounds, 7151 W. 190th St., Jordan. 952-2436. www.lakeminnetonkakc.com.)

MOSAIC OPENING

The opening night of the Minneapolis Mosaic Festival of Arts will keep you hopping -- not only while you dance, but as you try to make as many of the events and performances as you can. More than 40 acts are offered, ranging from salsa, rock and jazz music to flamenco, folk, Middle Eastern and American square dancing. Theater performances range from kabuki to cabaret and comedy acts to storytelling. There will also be the premiere of "In the Garden," a specially commissioned film by John Gwinn, as well as art exhibits and food. (6-10 p.m. Sat. Free. On Hennepin Av., between 7th and 9th Sts., Mpls. www.minneapolismosaic.com.)

OLD IS GOOD

Whiskey, furniture, journalists ... older is better. As far as the furniture goes, see for yourself this weekend at the Minnesota Antiques Dealers Association Show. More than 45 dealers have been invited to share their treasures, not only of furniture but also vintage jewelry, silver, glass, porcelain, textiles, decorative arts and more. Both novice and advanced collectors will find a wealth of information as well as that "special something" for which they've been searching. (10 a.m.-7 p.m. Sat.; 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sun. $6. Minnesota State Fair Fine Arts Building, 1265 N. Snelling Av., Falcon Heights. 651-430-0095.)
