Hawk-Owl being seen near Hutchinson

Posted by: Jim Williams Updated: January 11, 2014 - 12:21 PM

A Northern Hawk-Owl is being seen at a location unusually close to the metro area. This species is most often found from central Minnesota north during winter months. At 11 a.m. Saturday the bird was actively feeding about one-half mile south of the intersection of McLeod county road 12 (Tagus Ave.) and 230th Street. This is about two-three miles north of Hutchinson, which is about an hour west on Highway 7. Snowy Owls are being in various places north of this location.
