It's time to divide and plant peonies. If you find yourself short of peonies to divide and plant, you're in luck: It's also time for the Minnesota Peony Society's annual root auction. At 1 p.m. Sunday, society members will donate peony roots from their own gardens. Local hybridizers and professional growers in the region also will offer a wide variety of color and flower form, including a number of hard-to-find plants. At noon, there will be a demonstration on dividing peonies. The free event takes place at Bachman's Heritage Room, 6010 Lyndale Av. S., Minneapolis. For more information, call 952-925-0267.

The Minnesota State Horticultural Society has a free class to answer that. "Abundant Harvest: Using all those green tomatoes and apples" will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Minneapolis Farmers Market, Lyndale and Glenwood Avenues N.
