Kitchens that cook

It's the last day to get an inside look at 10 remodeled kitchens created by local interior design pros. The projects located across the Twin Cities are in a variety of price points and styles, ranging from a Golden Valley rambler's wheelchair-accessible cook's dream to an Edina makeover boasting a modern steel and glass vibe. The Minnesota Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designer Kitchen Tour is from noon to 5 p.m. April 19. Tickets are $15 in advance; $20 at the door; $10 for single homes. The event is part of Midwest Home magazine's Design Week. Go to http://midwesthomemag.com/project/2015-asid-mn-kitchen-tour-sunday/ for a map and information.

Order in the house

You're determined to organize your spaces but aren't sure where to start? The Minnesota Chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers will offer resources, ideas and tips at a free "Get Organized for Spring" workshop, 10 a.m. to noon April 25. Topics include green organizing, donating or recycling items, seasonal swap-out in your common areas, and how to organize your garage or sporting goods. The workshop is at Arc Value Village Thrift Store, 6330 Brooklyn Blvd., Brooklyn Center. Call 763-503-3534.

Blooming art

Create an "Art in Bloom" arrangement for your home. Bachman's Floral Design Workshop will emulate the Minneapolis Institute of Arts "Art in Bloom," a four-day festival of fresh floral designs inspired by fine art. One of this year's signature pieces, "The Flower Gardener, from Des Manouvriers habilles" by Martin Englebrecht, is the fine art that will inspire the workshop, from 6 to 8 p.m. April 23 at Bachman's, 6010 Lyndale Av. S., Mpls. Cost is $75 and includes instruction and the materials for your take-home floral creation. Twenty percent of ticket proceeds will benefit Friends of the Institute. To register, go to www.bachmans.com or call 612-861-7711.

Illustrating Americana

Two calendar companies that produced illustrations that defined the Arts and Crafts era were based in Minnesota. The Twin Cities Bungalow Club will present "Illustrating Americana: a Minnesota history of calendar and advertising art," using original art, photographs and prints by the hottest illustrators at Brown & Bigelow and Louis F. Dow lithography companies during the early 20th century. The program is from 2 to 4 p.m. April 26, McNeely Hall Great Room, University of St. Thomas, 2115 Summit Av., St. Paul. Cost $3; Bungalow Club members are admitted free. Call 612-724-5816 or visit www.bungalowclub.org.
