Mark MacLennan Arboretum Art Crawl

Art Crawl at the Arb

The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum will be abloom with art, as well as flowers, during this weekend’s Art Crawl Through the Gardens. The two-day outdoor art fair will feature works — including pottery, wood art, jewelry and even hammocks — by 42 local artists. New this year will be food and beverage concessions. Fair hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat. and Sun., with outdoor dance performances by MotionArt at 11 a.m. and noon Sat. and 1 and 2 p.m. Sun. at the Harrison Sculpture Garden. The Art Crawl will be held along Three Mile Drive, and is free with gate admission, 3675 Arboretum Dr., Chaska.

Lawn care

It’s too early to start thinking about fall — except when it comes to your lawn. Gertens is offering a free workshop on seeding, fertilizing and general fall lawn maintenance, along with information about products and tools designed to help produce beautiful lawns. The workshop is designed as a Q&A format, so bring your questions. It will be offered on six consecutive Saturdays at 10 a.m., starting this week and continuing through Sept. 20. Gertens is at 5500 Blaine Av., Inver Grove Heights.

Fairies in the garden

Want to add some magic to your garden? Explore the enchanted world of fairy gardening and terrariums at a free workshop and demonstration, hosted by Gertens, 1 p.m. Sat., 5500 Blaine Av., Inver Grove Heights.

Daffodil bulb sale

Do you like sunny daffodils? The Daffodil Society of Minnesota will be selling Minnesota-hardy daffodil bulbs to plant in the fall and enjoy in the spring. The sale will include hard-to-find varieties and unusual colors — daffodils are no longer yellow only, but also come in oranges, pinks and whites.

The price is $5 per bag or five bags for $20, and the sale will be held this weekend at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, 3675 Arboretum Dr., Chaska. Sale hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat. and Sun.

Free sweet corn

It’s sweet corn season! Pahl’s Market in Apple Valley is hosting its 19th annual Corn Fest this Sat., from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be free sweet corn, all you can eat, plus live music, and a corn-eating contest (the record is 26 ears). Pahl’s is at 6885 160th St., Apple Valley.

Floral design

Learn how to use Minnesota native flowers and foliage to create stunning arrangements. Bachman’s is offering a workshop taught by award-winning floral designer Diane Enge. The cost of $50 covers all supplies to create your own floral creation. The workshop will be offered twice, 6 to 8 p.m. Thu. and 2 to 4 p.m. Sat., in the Design Room at Bachman’s on Lyndale, 6010 Lyndale Av. S., Mpls. To register, visit www.bachmans.com.

Pond tour

Thinking about adding a water feature? Inspired Design Landscapes is offering a free “Mini Pond Tour” to showcase five yards with water features, including pondless waterfalls. The tour will be held 1 to 7 p.m. Sat., and the featured landscapes are in Fridley, Columbia Heights and Minneapolis. For tour locations, visit www.idl-inc.com.
