The toolbox: Storage beanbag; toilet that protects against overflow

Penguin Toilets have openings under the rim of the bowl designed to prevent overflows.

Storage beanbag

Mimish Designs’ Storage Beanbag is a clever place to stash stuff.

The beanbag chair unzips to reveal space for storing plush toys, out-of-season clothes, bedding or other soft items. The top of the chair is filled with polystyrene beads to create a comfortable, squishy seat or ottoman.

The beads are enclosed in a removable bag, so you can remove them to clean the chair’s shell. The chair comes in Microsuede, which can be machine-washed, and cotton, which must be dry-cleaned.

The Storage Beanbag, available in 13 colors, is made in the United States and sells for $149 at Shipping is free on orders in the United States.

Toilet protects against overflows

Sinks and tubs have overflow holes. Why not toilets?

The makers of Penguin Toilets wondered the same thing, so they added overflow protection to their products.

Penguin Toilets have openings under the rim of the bowl leading to a separate drain line that bypasses the trap. In the event of a clog, the contents can drain out instead of spilling onto the bathroom floor.

The toilets are available in three models. They’re sold at Lowe’s stores and on at prices ranging from $169 to $304, and are also available through wholesale distributors.
