Winter is a perfect time to create a fairy house for your spring garden. A fairy house workshop offered by the Minnesota State Horticultural Society gives step-by-step instructions for making a whimsical structure to tuck into your garden. The house, complete with chimneys and doors, will be made from concrete with stones and moss and other natural elements. The finished project will have a closed roof or an open top to insert a plant. You'll also learn how to make pathways and bridges. Materials are supplied, but you may want to bring old hardware such as a skeleton key, window latches and other trinkets to embellish your house. The two-part workshop is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 10 and 17 at Garden Treasures, 545 Cross St., Anoka. Cost is $40, $35 for members. To register, call 651-643-3601 or go to www.northerngardener.org.
