Kitchen makeovers are hot. "The No. 1 phone call I get is for designing a kitchen," said Brandi Hagen of Eminent Interior Design in Minneapolis. "People are staying in their homes rather than selling, and the first place they want to upgrade is the kitchen."

Next weekend, the ASID Designer Kitchen and Bath Tour will showcase the latest designs, finishes, colors and products in 13 projects around the Twin Cities. Here's a snapshot of four of the kitchens open for inspection.

  
  • ASID DESIGNER KITCHEN AND BATH TOUR

    What: Tour of 13 Twin Cities homes featuring redesigned kitchens and bathrooms.

    When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 13 and noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 14.

    Tickets: $20 at the ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) office in International Market Square, 275 Market St., Mpls., and at the door of homes. $10 for a single home at the door.
