Flooring app, sweepstakes

Need a new floor? Lumber Liquidators has launched its new Floor Finder app, which allows users to browse more than 340 varieties of flooring and see how those options look in a photo of their own room. Photos also can be uploaded to social-media platforms, where friends and family can weigh in.

The app is available to iPhone and iPad users. You can download it free at www.lumberliquidators.com/ll/flooring/floorfinderapp. And while you're there, you can enter a sweepstakes to win an iPad with case, plus $1,000 toward Lumber Liquidators flooring. The deadline for entering is Aug. 30.

Palette pointers

Choosing hues for your rooms is always a challenge. To help simplify the process, Gabberts is offering a free seminar on "Color Trends."

Mark Masica from Hirshfield's and designer Jennifer Ball from Gabberts are teaming up to share the latest looks in color, and to offer ideas on how to incorporate those colors into your home.

Participants also will have the chance to win one of several prizes, donated by Hirshfield's. First prize is two gallons of Benjamin Moore's Aura paint and a professional painter to paint one room of your home. Second and third prizes are Aura paint.
