Who says an Easter basket has to be a basket at all? You can repurpose things you have stashed in your junk drawer, closet or garage into a fun, fanciful basket to hold your Easter goodies.

We asked four local artists, crafters and junkers to look around their own homes to find the fixings for one-of-a-kind baskets.

"Look for one special item that can take your inspiration to a new level," said Paula Spahr, a mixed-media artist. "Then add a detail to make it a little more human and unexpected."

Spahr started with a boudoir lampshade, turned it upside down to transform it into a basket, then made it spring fresh with lime green grass and a few faux flowers.

So start your search for found objects -- a paint can, toothpicks, even book covers -- and pocket what you save by crafting your own basket. Better yet, use it to splurge on really good chocolate.
