Daub & Bauble, a Hugo-based company that makes hand wash, lotion and dish detergent, is marketing its line as a "true countertop decorative home accessory." In other words, something that sits on the sink but looks good, too.

The "limited-edition" wrappers leave just a small strip of room for type, and each fragrance group -- Mission Fig and Thyme, Tarocco Orange and Clove, and Sorrento Lemon and Ginger -- comes in three mix-and-match patterns in recyclable plastic.

Entrepreneurs Rachel and Josh Berger worked with Minneapolis-based Wink Design to execute their vision. Under development, the company says, are purse-size hand cream, surface spray and room fragrance. Ten ounces of hand wash and lotion cost $8 and $9, respectively; the dish soap costs $9 for 16 fluid ounces. At Corzon, Garden of Eden, Good Life and Patina stores; www.daubandbauble.com.

Scherping Westphal showroom owners Brenda Scherping and Fritz Westphal and their Minneapolis bungalow are the subject of five pages in the September issue of Better Homes & Gardens; five pages feature their mix of modern and traditional furnishings against neutral backgrounds with punches of deep color.

Bjorling & Grant has relocated to 4906 W. 35th St., St. Louis Park, from its southwest Minneapolis digs. Owner Ian Grant said the 7,400-square-foot space more than triples room for the home furnishings and accessories business. One plus of the new space: "We now have three -- count them -- three loading docks," Grant says, to accommodate the company's growing national business and finds from his overseas travels.

The La-Z-Boy is turning 80; to celebrate, it's soliciting your story about the iconic recliner (or other La-Z-Boy furniture) for a chance to win a $2,500 furniture gift card. See details at www.lazboy.com/comfortstories.

Two weeks ago a deer (or bear?) - both animals frequent our neighborhood in Hubbard County, came visiting our rose garden and ate all the rose buds except this one bush front and center.
