Cyber gardens

With Internet gardening websites, you can share your garden not only with your next-door neighbors, but with the whole world.

The recently launched YourGardenShow.com allows beginner and expert gardeners to put together slide shows and videos of their best blooms. You also can create a "glog," which is a garden log to track your garden's progress.

It also allows you to find out what's growing in gardens from Nova Scotia to Florence and search "garden shows" by hardiness zone to get ideas for your own landscape. Looking for a Zone 4 climbing rose? The site also offers vegetable and ornamental plant databases describing thousands of varieties compiled by Cornell University and the Missouri Botanical Garden.

The free interactive online community garden was developed by a master gardener and her TV producer husband and is based in San Francisco. Check it out at www.yourgardenshow.com.

Picture perfect

Spend two days shooting the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum gardens in all their glory with the help of an expert photographer. The arb's workshop "Shooting the Light" demonstrates techniques of sunrise, sunset, moonlight and plant photography. Participants must have a single-lens reflex camera, tripod and the ability to operate their gear.

The workshop is from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Cost is $130 for members and $145 for nonmembers and includes dinner, breakfast and lunch. 3675 Arboretum Dr., Chaska. Call 952-443-1422.

Watering tube

The Ooze Tube is a doughnut-shaped drip irrigation system for newly planted or drought-stricken trees and shrubs. Fill it every two weeks to water everything from evergreens to tomato plants.
