Air-pollution levels ease in Twin Cities, Rochester

Air quality in the Twin Cities metropolitan area and Rochester floated into the "moderate" range on Wednesday ending two days under an air-pollution health advisory issued by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA).

The air quality forecast for Thanksgiving Day on Thursday is "good" in the Twin Cities and Rochester, according to AIRNow.

The advisory issued for Monday and Tuesday prompted officials to urge motorists to park their vehicles and turn to alternative ways to get around whenever possible.

Monitors across much of the Upper Midwest indicated elevated levels of fine-particle pollution that put air quality in the high moderate range, the agency said Monday.

Clean, dry air blowing in from the north helped clear the particles.

The air-quality level Monday and Tuesday was just below what is considered to be unhealthy for sensitive people.
