Lots of men had opinions about guy friends. Here are two samples:
Dave Veeser, 40, Minneapolis
"I've never fit into the mainstream gay community. Most of my male friends are straight. And they are, indeed, close, deep friendships. I enjoy those friendships because they're much less complicated. It's like having a lot of extra brothers, with no competition and no fear of any sort of romantic entanglement. My straight male friends say my friendship with them is the best of both worlds. They can hang out and do guy things with me, and also talk with me about the sensitive or emotional stuff they don't feel comfortable discussing with their beer buddies or girlfriends."
Jay Craswell, 48, Prior Lake
"Old friends are the best friends, but I think guys are not as in touch with other guys as women are. It's my observation that women can talk about anything. Guys? We just kind of get to this point and clam up. We don't really talk about sex, other than nudges, winks and wooo-wooos. I find talking to women about intimate stuff much easier, which, for example, is why I have a female MD. It's also why I think women make better doctors. They can communicate."
We spent the day in Toronto in May 2009 and went to the top of the CN Tower. While at the top, I snapped this picture of the shadow it cast.
