Deal-a-day websites are a great place to find deals on teeth whitening and kids dance lessons. I've seen offers for credit repair services and housecleaning.

But I don't recall having seen a charity use the platform yet - although there's a chance that with the dozens of deals I receive each day, one got lost in the shuffle.

Living Social has a week-long deal where if you give $5 to the Marine Toys 4 Tots Foundation, corporate partners including Toys R Us and Hasbro will donate another $5 up to $1 million. Guess it's the 21st century version of charitable matching money.

What other interesting ways are charities raising money in this critical year-end period? And does a deal like this prompt you to give?
