If your favorite art galleries are at Target, HomeGoods and garage sales, here's a chance to find something original without busting the art budget--the annual Minneapolis College of Art and Design art sale. This year's sale will be Friday, Nov. 18 and Saturday Nov. 19. The new deal this year is that through Monday, Oct. 17 you get one opening night ticket free if you buy three. Tickets are $20 in advance ($25 at the door) with all proceeds going to the college.

If you haven't been, hundreds of paintings, photographs, are prints are available with smaller numbers of sculptures, furniture, clothes and jewelry. Many items are less than $100 but nothing can be priced more than $1,250. Nearly all of the price of the art goes back to the students or alumi who contribute their work. If you can't swing the $20 ticket, show up on Saturday, Nov. 19 when admission is free. A lot of great pieces are sold on Friday, but new works take their place on Saturday.

Would you shave your head for a free meal? You've got until about 9 p.m. today to decide. Anyone who is head hairless due to genes or a razor gets a free meal worth up to $15 at five Blue Plate restaurants, including Groveland Tap, Longfellow Grill, Highland Grill, Edina Grill or Three Squares. Those wearing a wig or toupee can remove it for a free dessert too. Nice promo, Blue Plate.

This is much better publicity than Parasole got earlier this week when it announced that it is taking 2 percent off the top of any tips added to a charge card to help offset the high price of credit card fees. Some sympathetic diners are now tipping in cash at the company's restaurants, including Burger Jones, Mozza Mia, Good Earth, Pittsburgh Blue, Salut, Muffuletta, and  Il Gatto..
