WCCO-TV GM Susan Adams Loyd has resigned after nearly four years on that job.

SAL, as she is known, said she submitted her resignation some time ago, "but I didn't make the announcement until today because I wanted Don and dear Frank to have the spotlight last week," she said, referencing the succession announcement that Don Shelby's being replaced by Frank Vascellaro.

"I'm going to move over to my father's publishing business, Beavers Pond Press in Edina, and spend some time with my 82-year-old father Milt 'Beaver' Adams," SAL told me. "Going to help him transition his company and could buy it. I need to spend three to four months assessing that situation."

She said the resignation was her choice.

A native Minnesotan, SAL came to WCCO from Jacksonville, Fla., where she was GM of CBS and FOX stations. "I've been thinking about it for some time. After two strong quarters here in the first half of 2010, it's a perfect time to go."
