YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES
Bryant McKinnie's hair transformation couldn't make an adult out of him.
Recently noticed McKinnie had shaved the braids for an adult male haircut, about which I was going to praise him -- until the Vikings tackle and 2005 Love Boat scandal survivor got kicked off the Pro Bowl team. He was too busy partying in Miami, and Twittering about his partying, to make most of the team meetings. His Twittered alibi? Injuries (although none so disabling as to keep him home).
He missed out on $22,500 as a member of the losing NFC squad in his first selection to the Pro Bowl, an honor for which he campaigned. Someday, when McKinnie's penniless, my hunch about him will be confirmed in an "Outside the Lines" report.
With no handle as alluring as VikingSweetie or BEAUTY1, I don't expect McKinnie to respond to my Tweeted questions about hair, etc. Left to amuse myself, I found one old Tweet from McKinnie seemingly written as he was about to get into the barber's chair: "Once I get a haircut it will take 4 years off my look. LOL" Hiphop weeklyblog.com indicated that McKinnie got the new haircut because he was turning 30.
All indications are that McKinnie was going for a more mature look, as opposed to a more mature outlook on life, as his image makeover about the head appears to have lacked heart.
"HATERS MAKE ME STRONGER, SO THANX 4 THE FAVOR!! DON'T BREAK SUCKAS!" McKinnie Tweeted on Monday. In a less-immature comment, McKinnie wrote: "I give the LORD PRAISE 4 giving me the strength 2 deal [with] anything that come [sic] my way and 4 being by my side! ONLY GOD can JUDGE me! DAT."
Look again, Bryant. I don't think the Lord was your co-pilot when you were at Mansion nightclub.
The most frightening Twitter post Monday from bigmacvikings was this: "I met Sentrell Henderson on his visit in Miami." Assuming this is Seantrel Henderson, all I can say is I hope the parents or guardians of this top All-America recruit from Cretin-Derham Hall knew not to let this kid hang with McKinnie more than five seconds.
Brett's dilemma"Favre has a huge dilemma now. Is getting to the semifinals and blowing it a better end than trying again and not even getting that far?" Mitch Albom posed the question Sunday on ESPN's "Sports Reporter. "One lousy pass may be all Brett Favre thinks about for months. But can he live with the world thinking about it forever?"
Rihanna & ReneeJill Spiegle -- author of "How to Talk to Anyone About Anything!" -- has been giving In Touch Weekly expert insight into the love lives of Rihanna and Renee Zellweger.
It's too early to say whether Rihanna has jumped from the frying pan (Chris Brown) into fire (Dodgers slugger Matt Kemp), but the heat is uncomfortable.
"What Rihanna needs after Chris is something really solid and someone fully committed to her, a relationship of mutual self-esteem building," Spiegel told me. "Rihanna has given the impression she's excited to be in new love with him and is very affectionate. There's a romance on her side, but when he's asked to comment he says, 'We're just friends.'" The Minneapolis relationship expert said they need to have a talk and see whether they can get on the same page.
The People magazine with Elizabeth Edwards on the cover has a story on page 28 about Kemp's old girlfriend, actor Felisha Terrell, filing a TRO against the major leaguer for "constant verbal abuse and threats." Hmmm. "Rihanna is attracted to a dangerous guy," Spiegle can tell even up here.
Moving on, Zellweger's romance with Bradley Cooper appears to be repeating a pattern: Whirlwind romance, fast engagement, flame out.
"It's not public yet, but there is a rumor that Renee and Bradley are engaged. They have known each other a super short time," Spiegel said. "She had a brief marriage to Kenny Chesney after a short romance, and In Touch told me Bradley had a brief marriage to Jennifer Esposito. It could mean Renee and Bradley learned so much from those experiences this one is going to work. It also could be a pattern of being in love with love. I'm going to wish her well on this one."
Spiegel's take on the Zellweger-Cooper relationship is in the In Touch that came out Wednesday. While interviewing her Thursday, we found a website claiming that they are engaged. But who knows?
