Weekly restaurant deal: Duffy's Dinkytown Pizza

Last update: October 27, 2009 - 4:07 PM

A slice of pizza for a buck? Believe it. Pat Duffy, owner of Duffy's Dinkytown Pizza (1308  5th St. SE., Minneapolis, 612-623-3833, www.duffysdinkytown.com) cuts the price of his crisp-crust cheese pizza from $3 to $1 every Thursday night from 10 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. (during the same time period on Friday and Saturday nights, the price is still a major bargain: $2).

The reason? Competition. "I used to be the only late-night place on the block, and now there are three," Duffy said. "I used to have a line out the door after bar close, so I'm giving my pizza away to get my customers back."
