Jared's Amy; A.P.'s Marjorie

Psst. Want to get a good look at Jared Allen's girlfriend?

The defensive end for the Vikings got very testy when I tried to shoot video of "the love of his life" recently at the Mall of America. As readers and viewers of tinyurl.com/yzaw2j6 know, Allen also apologized.

"Some people just aren't comfortable on camera," he explained.

Oh, really?

"What is up with Jared Allen getting in your face about taping Amy when she was just on TV with him last week on 'Vikings Weekly,''' e-mailed Mary. "Funny for someone who 'doesn't like to be photographed.'"

Mary even gave me a link: tinyurl.com/yjpyjda.

Amy (spelling unconfirmed) sure looks like the leggy brunette who sashayed away from my camera lens at the MOA. Because Allen told me he's a good man, we can assume that she is the same woman in my video.

"My lovely girlfriend, Amy, is in town," Allen told his FOX Sports North viewers in video posted Oct. 14. "We're kind of out for a little date. Thought we would keep it blue collar. Where else would you take the love of your life? -- Arby's!"

At the end of the video, Allen is leaning back, lounging on Amy's shoulder while "wrapping up another edition of 'Street Meet.' I just want to say thank you to my lovely girlfriend for allowing me to interrupt our date and to join all the lovely people here at Arby's, all the fans on 'Street Meet,' so, baby, thank you." He plants a noisy kiss on Amy's left cheek before tossing the show back to Ann Carroll.

Amy never looked distressed, smiling a toothy grin directly into the camera during her face-time. Why not? Allen is a fun-loving, hunky, single NFL player who takes pride in not being a playa-playa and has publicly lifted her out of the pack of women who must be chasing him.

Despite his denial, I still believe he went off on me because he did not know who I was. That's allowed.

Suzanne celebrates

Suzanne Somers was telling diners at D'Amico Kitchen that she was at the new restaurant in downtown Minneapolis' Chambers hotel celebrating her birthday.

Somers' birthday is Oct. 16, according to Wikipedia. She was in the metro shooting "Style Secrets" on Shop-NBC and no doubt mentioning her controversial new book "Knockout: Interviews with Doctors Who are Curing Cancer and How to Prevent Getting It."

Marjorie tackles Adrian

Word has it that baker Marjorie Johnson stole the show when she interviewed the Vikings star running back about his new DVD, "All Day with Adrian Peterson," for KSTP-TV's "Twin Cities Live."

The woman Jay Leno has called a "Baking Dynamo" brought Peterson a basket of ginger snaps and demanded that he try one on camera.

Wearing a No. 28 jersey way too big for her teeny frame, Johnson admitted she didn't know who Peterson was until she looked him up on the Internet. She prattled on about his injuries, awards and wholesomeness.

"I love that everything about you was good 'cause, oh, some of those athletes, you know, they are terrible," she gushed. "Everything I read about you was wonderful."

Laughing softly, Peterson promised to check out the recipes in "The Road to Blue Ribbon Baking with Marjorie," where there are two recipes for his favorite dessert, brownies. He said he and his brothers have a hired cook, but they still know their way around a kitchen. "We're pretty country, so we've got some cooking skills in us," said Peterson.

Reaching over and forcefully touching Peterson with both hands about the chest, Johnson said, "Don't have any accidents" -- a.k.a. injuries.

"Keep me in your prayers and I'll do the same," Peterson said.
