YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES
Three of the Lynx's most fashion-forward players show us their flair for style.
Candice Wiggins, 23, got into fashion as a student at California's Stanford University at the urging of her best friend.
"I just like to express my individual style," she said. "It's like a second skin."
Wiggins is known for her vitality and big personality on the court, and those traits shine through in her fashion style. Her outfits are clean and tailored, but with some flashy touches: a brightly colored jacket with a conservative silhouette, cherry-red pumps, a shimmery vest.
"It's Cali-casual meets boho, with eclectic pieces thrown in," she said of her style.
Most of all, Wiggins loves jeans. She shops frequently for vintage denim, and particularly likes the high waists of '80s-era jeans. "Jeans are the cornerstone of a great outfit," she said.
Charde Houston, forwardOnce Houston, 22, steps in front of a camera, it's easy to see why she cites singer Beyoncé as a fashion role model. With Houston's fabulous poses and super-skinny jeans, she channels her inner rock star. When the camera starts clicking, she shows off some impromptu dance moves.
Houston developed her interest in fashion during her junior year at the University of Connecticut. "My friends were into fashion," she said. "I've been into it ever since." Her interest expanded when she was exposed to European and international fashions while playing in Israel last year.
The key to Houston's look is accessories. She loves big earrings, big bracelets and dangerously high heels. Shoes, she said, are her favorite fashion statement.
"I'll try anything as long as it fits my personality," she said.
Roneeka Hodges, guardHodges typically will choose a casual outfit for hanging out, and a preppier outfit fit for a classy summer night.
"I dress for the occasion," said Hodges, 26. "I'm not so out-there."
Despite her laid-back style, Hodges stands out in another way -- she has some serious ink in the form of 16 tattoos. A favorite one portrays herself and twin sister Doneeka, a former WNBA player, that reads "Born Wit' It."
Hodges admitted that she likes the fact that her uniform shows them off at games.
"I'm addicted to tattoos," she said, with a grin. "I get one every time something significant happens in my life."
