Stillwater Marathon

May 24, 7 a.m.

The race: Starts on Hwy. 95, just south of downtown Stillwater. Finishes at Stillwater's Lowell Park. Course open for six hours. Eighteen water stops.

Expected marathon field: 800

Accompanying races: 20-mile, half-marathon and 12K

Race fees: Marathon $90; 20-mile $70; half-marathon $70; 12K $45

St. Croix Events president Dave Eckberg: "Twin Cities and Grandma's are incredible events. Our goal would someday to be even half of what they are. It's not a competition ... we want to have a good race for runners, that's all."

TEAM ORTHO MINNEAPOLIS MARATHON

May 31, 7 a.m.

The race: Starts at the Depot, finishes at Gold Medal Park. Course open for seven hours. Twenty water stops.

Expected marathon field: 1,500

Accompanying races: Half-marathon, 5K and 5K-9 (runners with a leashed dog)

Race fees: Marathon $95, half-marathon $75, 5K $40, 5K-9 $47

Race director Caleb Olsen: "There's a need for it. We didn't come in to be a powerhouse ... we started it because Minneapolis is a great city, and there are a lot of people around here who run.
