It's a special day for our Thanksgiving turkey. As he prepares to be colored by thousands of kids in the Star Tribune's annual coloring contest, he's also celebrating his 30th birthday. It's a special day for our Thanksgiving turkey. As he prepares to be colored by thousands of kids in the Star Tribune's annual coloring contest, he's also celebrating his 30th birthday. Staff artist and designer Bruce Bjerva has drawn all 30 of the turkeys, giving each a new look. What can you add to his appearance this year?
The rules: Send the completed turkey to Oh, You Turkey!, Star Tribune, 425 Portland Av. S., Minneapolis, MN 55488. Entries must be postmarked by Tuesday, or drop them off in the Star Tribune lobby by next Thursday. Each envelope should have the child's age printed in the lower left corner. Do not cut the turkey out of the page. Send only this page.
Entries will be judged by students from the Perpich Center for Arts Education.
Winners will be selected in three age groups: 4 and under, 5 to 8 and 9 to 12. First-, second- and third-place winners will receive a Target gift card and a turkey stuffed animal.
All entries become property of the newspaper, and nonwinning entries will not be returned.
Winning entries will be published in the Dec. 16 Variety section and will appear online at startribune.com/lifestyle.
