BrewÂerÂy docuÂmenÂtary shown on SunÂday
Minnesota is a hotÂbed of craft brewÂerÂies, with esÂtiÂmates of 1.9 per capita — two for each of us, reÂalÂly? (The Brewers Association estimates 1.9 per capita, with per capita in this case meaning per 100,000 21-plus adults.) What goes into startÂing and, more imÂportÂant, surÂvivÂing is exÂplored in a new docuÂmenÂtary, "Blood, Sweat and Beer," which will be shown June 28 at BryÂant-Lake Bowl, part of a 35-city naÂtionÂal tour. The film folÂlows the jourÂney of two start-up brewÂerÂies, esÂpeÂcialÂly Backshore BrewÂing of Ocean City, Md., which strugÂgled to surÂvive its first year of busiÂness afÂter beÂing hit with an agÂgresÂsive trademark lawÂsuit, not disÂsimiÂlar to the tradeÂmark lawÂsuit faced by Duluth's Bent PadÂdle BrewÂing, which was setÂtled far more graceÂfulÂly. ShowÂtime is 3 p.m. at 810 W. Lake St, Mpls. You can watch a trailÂer here: http://bloodsweatbeermovie.vhx.tv.
