CP: So much online shopping, so little time, right?


RN: The time-suckage quotient exceeds that of the YouTube cat video marathon I just finished. And I don’t even like cats.


CP: Outside of the release of a new Netflix series, nothing can keep me up past bedtime more easily than Zappos, Gilt or Ssense.com.


RN: There are advantages to browsing through J. Crew at 2 a.m. in your underwear. You can’t do that at Southdale.


CP: This from a man who is somewhat widely known as a champion of the American shopping center, a regular Dales-aholic. Have malls gotten worse, or has Web shopping gotten better?


RN: It depends. The upper tax-bracketed Galleria appears to be booming, but Brookdale and Apache Plaza have gone to that big shopping center in the sky. By the way, Ssense.com? Share.


CP: You wouldn’t like it.


RN: As in, online shopping is taking a chainsaw to local retail economies and killing the stores and boutiques that make urban life worth living I wouldn’t like it? Or as in, I will drain my entire disposable income for the month in a matter of clicks I wouldn’t like it?
