Arts and entertainment marathon on tap for RNC

Last update: July 7, 2008 - 11:14 AM

Representatives from the local arts organizations will take advantage of the Republican National Convention to showcase and promote the Twin Cities local visual and performance arts scene.

They're planning Spark24, an arts and entertainment marathon in which more than 60 entertainers and works by visual artists will featured at more than 60 venues Aug. 30-31, said Scott Mayer, founder of the event.

A press conference to announce the event and the round-the-clock schedule will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at the IDS Crystal Court in downtown Minneapolis.

The Republican National Convention runs Sept. 1-4 in St. Paul.
