Look up digital resources

Books still reign supreme, but libraries across the metro area offer a variety of technology tools. Here are a few:

Check out iPads: Anoka County library has a kiosk for iPad checkout — users can take the tablet for a week — at Ramsey City Hall. Other libraries offer iPads for use within their buildings.

Explore 3-D printing: Ramsey County libraries have three MakerBot 3-D printers and offer classes.

Test e-readers: The “Reader Bar” at Dakota County libraries in Burnsville, Eagan, Apple Valley and West St. Paul lets patrons test-drive different e-book devices.

Learn about social media: Classes vary by location, but instructors cover everything from basic overviews of social networking to using Facebook for business.
