It's the candy of the Internet: Memes, funny photo galleries, cheeky lists poking fun at people and places and things.

One click on Mashable leads to another on BuzzFeed and before you know it, you're laughing at a video of a talking dog or sharing a link to someone's idea of what superheroes would post on Instagram. (Spider-Man is into skylines. Batman shows off his Batcycle.)

But who needs superheroes when there are loons and giant lumberjacks? Photo sharing network Instagram — 150 million active monthly users and growing fast — can always use a little more Up North perspective. Just imagine what these Minnesota icons of past, present and fiction would post — if they had Instagram.
