Student was pretty sure it was Mrs. Doubtfire

Last update: May 7, 2008 - 8:08 PM

Robin Williams was wearing cool, comfortable shoes when he hit the Verizon Wireless store on Nicollet Mall.

U student Amy Siebenbruner was tardy for work Monday night at Macy's because she ran into the comedian, who is in town for shows at the Acme Comedy Club. According to her e-mail, she "stopped into Verizon Wireless to have my phone fixed. The store told me to come back in 45 minutes. I came back about an hour later and who was in the store looking at phones? Robin Williams. I told Mr. Williams what a big fan I was and he shook my hand and said thank you. He couldn't have been nicer! And he had on really cool shoes! If you want proof, I do have a picture of him on my phone."

OK, adorable Amy, where is that photo?

My e-mail should have been filled with photos of Williams, as I am told by other sources that lots of phones were capturing his image. One source reported that Williams' cool shoes looked like New Balance kicks.

Stay tuned

The episode of the Style Network's "Split Ends" reality show starring Shauna Raisch, owner of Twiggs of Wayzata, will air at various times Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

El'll be in town

A game of basketball with local gospel and R&B friends is one of the things that El DeBarge plans for this weekend when he's here for a Mother's Day performance at Epic Nightclub.

He's also planning to dine at r. Norman's Steakhouse. Somebody should remind members of this dining party not to wear caps, hats or hoodies.

More Moss-behavior

Chef Robin Rosenberg doesn't believe there is anything to this gossip about Dwayne Wade "dating" Star Jones.

The chef de cuisine of Chicago-based Levy Restaurants, Rosenberg was in the Twin Cities this week overseeing a party that restaurant concepts savant Steve Schussler was throwing for Disney execs. Rosenberg is also in charge of food at some new Schussler Creative concepts.

Rosenberg, who said he is the chef of the U.S. Olympic basketball team, told me that he was in charge of all the VIP suites at the finish line of the Kentucky Derby.

"Dwayne Wade," replied Rosenberg incredulously. His tone suggested he really was not buying this gossip involving Jones, who is getting a divorce from Al Reynolds, a man she one described as having the -- whinny here -- legs of a stallion. There are also Web rumors about the status of Wade's marriage.

"I know his wife," said Rosenberg, who believes Wade is still with his high school sweetheart. "She wears a jacket that says 'Wade's Wifey' to every game." Of course, games and players change quickly for pro athletes. "Really nice [woman]. He was alone at the Derby," Rosenberg said. "He was with a bunch of his friends. He was with Randy Moss [and his New England Pats' lockermate] Tom Brady."

Rosenberg asked me why Moss behaves rudely and brusquely. Did I have stories from Moss' Vikings days for Robin! And this: a) that boy seems unhinged and b) Moss revels in showcasing his rough edges.

On Wednesday when I had my own questions about what Rosenberg might have seen Moss do at the Derby, I could not find the chef.

According to TMZ.com Moss was publicly living up to his first name with a woman purported to be Miss Kentucky USA. TMZ has posted images of Miss Kentucky and Moss in a crowded setting, reportedly a Derby party, engaged in a degrading sexual pose. "But the chick bending over and taking a hike isn't just some random skeezer," writes TMZ.com, " -- that's Miss Kentucky USA he's playin' with!"

The website tv.right celebrity.com says the pageant is likely to have a reaction to this disgusting incident. The coach of the Pats is also likely to have a reaction to this latest paragraph in the life of Moss, an unmarried father of four kids, at last known count.

Moss is not even as classy as Lassie.

Up close with Kelly

A Shakopee man tells me he's on "Live with Regis and Kelly" this morning.

Wally Schmelz said he submitted a letter and video to the ABC-TV show's "Mom's Dream Come True" contest on behalf of a worthy friend who lives in Holliston, Mass. To his amazement, Schmelz said, he was flown out to the East Coast when the show gave a specially equipped van to Janine Pandolfino, who needs the vehicle to transport her 7-year-old daughter Gianna.

Because of his tone of voice when he called the Pandolfino family and told them to get outside, Schmelz said, they probably thought their house was on fire. Then again, how would he know about a fire, because he was ostensibly calling from Minnesota?

Schmelz said he was nervous on camera with Kelly Ripa but much more calm off camera. "She doesn't have a conceited bone in her body," Schmelz said.
