Tickets on sale Saturday for reunited Stone Temple Pilots

Last update: April 11, 2008 - 10:45 AM

The Grammy-winning Stone Temple Pilots reunion tour is scheduled to stop at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul on June 6, with tickets going on sale Saturday.

The band, which formed in 1992 amid the grunge rock era and has sold more than 35 million albums worldwide, split up five years ago and hasn't held a concert in more than seven years.

Singer Scott Weiland, guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz start their 65-city tour on May 17 in Columbus, Ohio.

Weiland, 40, has been dogged by drug problems since the band's early days. His arrests for drug possession and stints in rehab led the group to cancel tour dates and contributed to their breakup. Weiland pleaded not guilty last month to charges of driving under the influence of drugs stemming from a November car crash. That run-in with the law contributed to Weiland parting with his latest band, Velvet Revolver.

The Stone Temple Pilots' previous Twin Cities stop was in October 2001 at the Xcel Energy Center, where about 15,000 turned out as the band headlined the Family Values Tour .

Tickets for the June 6 show are $50. Visit www.ticketmaster.com for details.
