The nightspot Bar Fly is the last place you'd expect to see a swarm of gyrating 4-year-olds -- except on Baby Loves Disco day.

If you can crawl, you can dance. That's the motto at Baby Loves Disco, a monthly dance, bubbles and face-painting party for the sippy-cup set and their older siblings. Last Saturday afternoon at Bar Fly in downtown Minneapolis, cocktails and grownup nightlife gave way to soap bubbles, classic disco tunes, snacks, toys and diaper-changing stations, giving kids, moms and a few dads a warm place to play on a cold winter day. Here's a look at some of the tiny dancers who came to check out the action.

ELLIE DONOVAN 14 MONTHS, WEST ST. PAUL

Favorite part of party: The bubbles. "She didn't know what to do at first," said Ellie's dad, Corey Donovan. "But she got into the bubbles and wanted to dance."

Reason for coming: "It's a fun way to hang out with friends," said Ellie's mom, Amy Donovan. "It's probably the first time I've been to a bar in months. It's 2 p.m., but I'll take it."

Favorite song to dance to: "The Chicken Dance"

Favorite dance step: "She just learned to spin so she's excited," Amy said.

TIFFANY KABANUK 4, ST. PAUL

Favorite part of party: Snacks and music.

Attire: Tiffany opted for a cheerleader outfit over a ballerina outfit. "She loves to dress up for anything," said her mom, Crissy Kabanuk. "But if she has a place to dance, she needs to have dress-up clothes."

Favorite dance step: Plié, a move from Tiffany's dance class. "She came to test out her skills," Kabanuk said.

Agenda: Tiffany got some tattoos and balloons, and ate some bubbles. "We'll find out soon if you can eat bubbles," Kabanuk said.

JENNA SUND 3, BLOOMINGTON

Favorite dance step: Turning and twisting. "She likes to be a ballerina," said her grandma, Melody Sund, who brought her to the party.

Agenda: Hang out, dance to the music, have fun and do face-painting.

CLARICE RHEAULT 5, Eagan

Favorite part of party: The disco music.

Favorite dance step: Hokey pokey.
