79 Vows? WOW!

Nate Larson loves weddings, which is a good thing.

Last update: January 18, 2008 - 8:21 PM

Nate Larson is not a hopeless romantic. He does not read Modern Bride or Groom's magazine. But Larson, 31, of Arden Hills, knows weddings. He's been to 79 of them since his senior year of college.

Don't believe him? He has the Excel spreadsheet to prove it. "After 30 or so, I figured that I should start keeping track," said Larson, who works in commercial real estate. "Most people in my world laugh when I tell them that I have another wedding coming up, as it seems that I'm always heading off to witness yet another set of vows."

Of the 79 nuptials, he's been an usher three times, best man twice, groomsman five times and wedding singer 17 times. He confesses that he's not much of a singer, but his friends don't seem to care. He's sung "God Bless the Broken Road," by Rascal Flatts three times recently ("This much I know is true/That God blessed the broken road/That led me straight to you").

Why does he do it? "I really like it," said Larson, who has no plans to change his single status anytime soon. "It's the joy of seeing people I know and love come together. It's a fun thing for me."

We spent the day in Toronto in May 2009 and went to the top of the CN Tower. While at the top, I snapped this picture of the shadow it cast.
