Top 40 station KDWB has scored a winning headliner, Kelly Clarkson, for its annual Star Party, but it's gambling on a new location, Mystic Lake Casino.
Fresh from issuing another No. 1 album, the inaugural "American Idol" champ will perform at the casino in Prior Lake on May 14, topping a lineup that includes "Low" rapper Flo Rida, Miami producer-turned-singer Kevin Rudolf ("Let It Rock"), plus Matt Nathanson and V Factory. Tickets to the show will be available only through giveaways via KDWB (101.3 FM).
The Star Party follows a string of concerts at Mystic Lake's new showroom designed to attract younger -- but not too much younger -- crowds to the alcohol-free casino. Concertgoers must be 18 or older, which leaves out much of Clarkson's audience. Hard-rock band Staind plays the casino Monday and 3 Doors Down is scheduled June 8.
In other "Idol"-related concert news, Twin Cities contestant Jesse Langseth has booked her first hometown show since being bounced from the show in March. She's set to play the Fine Line in Minneapolis May 13, with tickets on sale May 1.
