The Minnesota Association of School Administrators has named Kate Maguire of Osseo as the 2014 Superintendent of the Year.

Maguire, who has led the fifth largest school district in Minnesota since 2010, was nominated for the award by her executive team who cited her dedication to transforming Osseo Area Schools.

"Under her leadership, achievement is climbing; access to college-level coursework has increased and graduation rates have improved," her colleagues wrote in their nomination letter. "She has ensured that our system has a clear mission that employees live and breathe every day."

At Osseo, Maguire has served as a teacher, principal, director of human resources, director of curriculum, and assistant superintendent.

"This award recognized the progressive, difficult and exciting work occurring in Osseo Area Schools," Maguire said. "The improved results we are getting don't happen without strong administrative and teacher leadership, dedicated staff, a supportive community and excellent school board leadership."

Maguire is the fourth woman since 1988 to receive the award.
