San Jose Sharks captain Joe Pavelski was named captain of Team USA for the World Cup of Hockey, which starts Sept. 17 in Toronto.
Wild defenseman Ryan Suter and Chicago center Patrick Kane are the alternate captains.
Wild winger Zach Parise, who wore the C for Team USA at the Sochi Olympics in 2014, was chosen as part of the team's "leadership" group along with Boston center David Backes, Anaheim winger Ryan Kesler and Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh.
Team USA is at training camp in Columbus, Ohio, and will play Canada at Nationwide Arena in the first of three pre-tournament games Friday.
