Melanie Keveles thrives on her ability to inspire others, and her positive attitude transfers over to the clients she works with as a certified professional co-active coach through her business, www.onlinecoaching.com.
"I am always looking for ways to inspire my clients so they will break out of their comfort zone and pursue work that is most meaningful for them," said Keveles, who is based in the Duluth-Superior area, but works with clients throughout the world. Keveles has inspired thousands to reach their career dreams and goals or improve their personal lives.
As the world of work has changed in recent years, career coaches and consultants have become an invaluable resource for professionals of all backgrounds. Sometimes it takes more than education and "real life" experience to find the satisfying, rewarding work people desire. That's where people like Keveles, and Shelley Jensen-Decker, the Training and Career Services Manager at St. Paul-based WomenVenture, come into play. They help people realize their dreams.
"Often clients who come to us for career consultations are burned out and seeking more meaning in their careers," said Jensen-Decker. "Perhaps they have done the corporate route, got the big money and title, but now want something different. Or, they have a job they are good at, but want something that ignites their passion. Coaching applies to achieving goals in virtually any aspect of one's life."
When looking for a career coach, Keveles and Jensen-Decker said it's important to try a sample session with a potential coach – which should be at no charge. Ask for references and for background information to make sure this person has been professionally trained to do the job. Check the client base to find out if the person has worked with people in situations similar to yours. These services vary in price, some can cost $20 per session, some up to $400 per month.
"Find someone who fits – someone you are comfortable with, you trust and connect with," said Jensen-Decker.
